LADOT Bicycle Program is looking to add two new team members to its Bicycle Outreach and Planning (BOP) team. LADOT is now accepting applications for two part-time Project Assistants (or Assistant Bicycle Coordinators) who will work with the Sr. Bicycle Coordinator, Bicycle Coordinator and the Bikeways Engineering Staff to implement the 2010 Bicycle Plan.
The duties of the Assistant Bicycle Coordinators include: the development, implementation and coordination of various new and existing grant funded programs such as bicycle parking, wayfinding signage, mapping, social media and outreach; prepare and maintain program records; data collection and preparation of reports; grant writing; working with consultants and vendors; distribution of materials and presentations; and working with the councilmembers and their staffs, Neighborhood Councils, and other public groups and individuals.
The positions require:
- an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Environmental Studies; Public Health; Physical Education, Kinesiology or Recreation; or Public Administration. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- a minimum of six months full time professional experience in transportation planning, engineering, advocacy, or public affairs. Internships or volunteer hours may be used to satisfy this requirement.
- the applicatant must be able to ride a conventional or modified bicycle and understand issues relative to bicycling for transportation in an urban setting.
