L.A. in 2013 - AIA|LA Places Design at the Forefront of Politics and the Economy

Architects - A CALL TO ACTION!

In 2013, Los Angeles and its city leadership will undergo a vast transformation.  We will elect a new Mayor, a new Controller and a new City Attorney.  We will even replace the majority of our City Council members.  As a city, we will also commence the vital steps necessary to reform our zoning code and, if we're politically savvy, we will even seize the chance to rethink the departmental structure for how we plan, entitle and develop projects in the City of Los Angeles.

All of this comes at a critical time for the architecture profession, as it sees more and more of its profit margins lost due to ineffective project delivery and procurement processes.

In fact, it is in my opinion that 2013 will mark a make-or-break moment for most architects doing business in the Los Angeles region.

It is with that sense of urgency and passion that I encourage you to join forces with the AIA|LA Political Outreach Committee and make plans to attend a series of monthly meetings so that we can strategize the most effective ways to place DESIGN EXCELLENCE at the forefront of politics, public policy and the local economy.

Please make plans to attend our first Political Outreach Committee of the year, which will be on Tuesday, January 15 (6:00pm - 7:30pm) at AIA Los Angeles.  Note:  future meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.
