Leading 2013 LA mayoral candidates will discuss job creation, regulation, transportation and trade infrastructure, as well as other important topics
LOS ANGELES, CA – Continuing the organization’s long-standing tradition of leadership in the Los Angeles business community, BizFed, the LA County Business Federation, announced today that it will host a mayoral forum in partnership with the Daily News of Los Angeles on Thursday, Feb. 7 at California State University, Northridge. The event will feature leading candidates LA City Councilmember Eric Garcetti, LA City Controller Wendy Greuel, LA City Councilmember Jan Perry, former Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin James, and technology company executive Emanuel Pleitez.
The BizFed – Daily News LA Mayoral Candidate Forum, moderated by local business leader and former LA Deputy Mayor Austin Beutner, will be a candid discussion among the candidates about the important issues facing the LA County business community, including ideas for repairing our economy, creating new jobs and making LA a more business-friendly environment.
“The issues facing our regional business community right now couldn’t be more critical, and addressing them must be a top priority for LA’s city government,” said David Fleming, Founding Chair of BizFed. “This debate will be a great opportunity for the top mayoral candidates to talk face-to-face with local business stakeholders, and discuss their ideas for leading our economy back to prosperity.”
The BizFed – Daily News LA Mayoral Candidate Forum will expand the scope of the conversation about local business, covering not only citywide issues, but also the regional impact of this year’s crucial mayoral contest. Specifically, the candidates will have an opportunity to share their views on issues such as Metro, the goods movement sector, tourism, economic development, workforce training, housing, and other issues where the City of Los Angeles affects the entire region.

ReplyDeleteI am a firm believer that you can accomplish more with honey than with vinegar.
The City of Los Angeles is on the brink of Municipal Bankruptcy. If that happens all of LA City employees will sustain a severe economic and financial blow, which cannot be rectified. The people who reside in the City of Los Angeles will sustain much hardship if this financial situation is not resolved amicably.
I propose that all parties handling the city finances and all Union organizations and other organizations that service the city should put all the cards on the table. Show all expenses and liabilities, a conservative approach to projected revenues, no fudging of expenses or revenues.
It is in the best interests of all parties to come to a compromise. Remember a piece of cake is better than no cake at all. Eventually the cow runs out of milk.
Today’s economic and financial situation throughout Los Angeles and the rest of the country as a whole is the worst since the depression.
The City of Los Angeles must aggressively help businesses in trouble survive and court other businesses to locate in the City of Los Angeles. Businesses create jobs and revenues. We must look at the "multiplier affect of thriving businesses", which creates economic prosperity.
