New Report: Transit Needs $142 Billion Over the Next 10 Years

Today the California Transportation Commission released its Statewide Transportation Needs Assessment. This assessment has shows that over the next 10 years transit will need an additional $341 billion to preserve its transportation system. Transit has the biggest individual need at $142 billion.

The results of the needs assessment and your responses to our survey have led to TransForm calling for the legislature to index the state gas tax to inflation. It has been 21 years since the gas tax was last raised. Every year since the revenue collected from the tax has lost value. It’s time for California to get its true value from its gas tax.

As a partner in Invest in Transit we wanted to ensure that you had the latest news and materials on this important issue. Here is a link to our press release and a blog post on the needs assessment. Please forward/tweet/Facebook this information to your lists and any press contacts you might have.

We look forward to working with you to plug the funding gap.
